More info

It is the first congress dedicated to the jota that covers all these territories, in an attempt to show the research and the numerous initiatives carried out in the last decades, from four main aspects: the historical; the identity and patrimonialization; that of the current uses and functions of the jota, and that of the various forms of transmission of the jota. In addition to the eighteen articles, you will find the "Cantclusions" of the Congress, sung by improvised singers, as well as an updated bibliographic collection on the subject.

This book collects the texts of the presentations and communications presented at the 1st Congress of the Jota in the Territories of Catalan Speaking, organized in Falset between October 19 and 21, 2018 by the General Directorate of Popular Culture and Cultural Associations of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Falset City Council and the Ramon Muntaner Institute (IRMU). The Congress has had the collaboration of institutions, entities and associations of popular culture from all over the Catalan-speaking territories involved in the study and practice of the different sides of the jota, especially with the Falsetto association La Clavellinera, who was also the initial promoter of the proposal.
