La festa, el dimoni i el foc. Vè Simposi de Focs de la Mediterrània

In this fifth book, as in previous editions, researches are presented that reflect the importance of fire in the context of the party, delving into the figure of the demon and the different identities and spaces that it gradually acquires at the parties: the study anthropological, sociological, historical, gender and the analysis of the festivities and the bearers, the gangs and the bonfires as demonic protagonists in the festive context help us deepen the interdisciplinary study of the fire festivals and their use throughout the party and the annual festive cycle.

This book collects the texts of the presentations and communications presented at the V International Symposium on Mediterranean Fires organized in Palma between 22 and 24 October 2021 by the Council of Mallorca and the Ramon Muntaner Institute. The Symposium has had the collaboration of institutions such as the Government of the Balearic Islands, Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Palma and Sa Pobla City Councils, Federation of Devils and Fire Beasts of the Balearic Islands, Fundació Mallorca Literary and the support of the Josep Irla Foundation.

As in previous editions, communications are presented that reflect the importance of fire in the context of the festival in different territories and, in this edition, more emphasis is placed on the subject of the devil, the different faces or variants; the different spaces and identities that he acquires in the festive context.
