For more than forty years, Albert Rossich has been a tireless teacher and researcher. Interested in the history of culture in general, and in that of Catalan literature and language in particular, he has based his studies with the tools of two basic disciplines, philology and history, and he has done so in direct contact with the object of study, books and everything linked to written culture. From the beginning, he has focused his research on the modern period of Catalan literature and is one of the researchers who has most contributed to recovering and dignifying this period of our literary history and, in particular, key authors such as Francesc Vicent Garcia and Francesc Fontanella, of which he has been editor. He has placed the modern period at the center of literary historiography, from where he has approached the understanding of troubadour poetry, on the one hand, and the understanding of the Renaissance, on the other, more in terms of continuity rather than breaking. He has also made decisive contributions in the field of the history of the language, with works on orthoepy, configuration of the vowel system or the interference of other literary languages in the country's own. Their works have made available to the research community a large amount of news and data of inestimable value, and have shed light on previously unknown aspects. Albert Rossich is always ready to collaborate and help other researchers, and there are many of us who thank him for his mastery, his generosity and his kindness. With this volume, which is a mirror of the wide range of areas of interest of the honoree, we wanted to give him back, just a little of everything he has given us.

ALBERT ROSSICH I ESTRAGÓ (Girona, 1952) is professor emeritus of Catalan Philology at the University of Girona, where he has taught Catalan literature since 1992. He had previously been a professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1977-1992). His basic lines of research are Catalan literature of the modern age and the 19th century, text editing, the history of the language and literary multilingualism. He has published several books and more than two hundred articles in specialized publications, and is responsible for the edition of the complete work of Vicent Garcia (2023). He has prepared anthologies such as Catalan erotic and pornographic poetry of the 17th century (1989), Catalan poetry of the Baroque. Anthology (2006) and O he de morir o he d'amar (2015) by Francesc Fontanella, which have brought the authors of the period closer to a general audience. He has written or coordinated reference works that offer an overview of the modern period, such as the Critical Panorama of Catalan Literature (2009-2011) and the second volume of the History of Catalan Performing Arts (in press). He is a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona and of the Institute of Catalan Studies.
