Elaborated from the witnesses, Espurna is a non-fiction narrative of the adventures of a group of young people involved in the clandestine struggle against the dictatorship of General Franco. The novel follows the vicissitudes of life of some characters who went beyond handing out pamphlets and organizing Marxist ideology discussion groups. The protagonists of Espurna clung to the idea that the revolution was imminent and tried to take advantage of all the loopholes in the last years of the Franco regime. The regime's police and courts, however, were still extremely dangerous.

In this novel, Serra breaks the classification of literature by genre, all the while pushing the mechanisms of the narrative, but also those of the essay, to the limit. Thus, faithful to reality but without neglecting the novelistic artifacts, the work tells us the story of a revolt that never came to light.
