L'Agnese va a morir

Agnese arrived, one day I was in the sandbank of the river watching my son play with the sand and, meanwhile, I thought that maybe it would always be like this, I alone would see how he would play, how he would study, how he would grow and become a man without his father. Agnese approached me, her ugly feet in her slippers. The first thing I saw were those ugly feet, I was so full of hate and sorrow that they disgusted me.
Then I heard her voice saying: "Are you the Countess?" and then everything changed color: never had my war name given me so much joy to hear it pronounced.
