People and the Land of Valencia (16th and 17th centuries) was published for the first time in 1993. It is a fully existing synthesis of the abundant production of Valencia historiography about demography and rural history produced and published basically twenty-five years before its edition. The book something in-between a historical erudition essay or a reflexive theoretical one. It systematically offers the contents of the wide bibliography used, while giving a series of reflections which let move forward to a totalizing look of the Valencia rural history. Some of the reflexions, like the reinterpretation of the moors’ expulsion and its consequences in the rural world, are originals and, eve to this day, they try to lead the way to new visions or at least a useful scientific discussion. Other reflections, strictly based on the compiling of available information, report the points of view from the Valencia historiography, which most of the time has been radically detached from the first interpretations of the rural past in Valencia.
