L’Espagne et les Juifs, published by the Office of Diplomatic Information of the Spanish Ministery of Foreign Affairs in the year 1949, is an unpublished booklet of the rich background of the archive-library of the CEHI that we now publish translated and annotated to Catalan. This document poses a significant aspect of the self-representation of Franco’s ideology in a subject that was central to the redefinition of the regime after the World War II and the end of fascism. Aimed at international public opinion, the text is an example of the revindication of the role played by Franco’s regime in the treatment given to the Jewish community in the early post-war years. The booklet allows us to evaluate the juggling and manipulations that Franco’s regime set in motion with the creation of the myth of the protection of the Jews, in an international historical context that demanded certain gestures un order to accept a political regime established by a coup d’état and allied until the last minute to the German and Italian regimes.
