The intellectual and professional biography of Josep Coroleu offered by Giovanni Cattini faces an environment where new possibilities of relationship are opened, in the south of Catalonia, between the history and the politics; it explains to us – and the subject is exciting – as the biography collaborated, but without ever losing sight of the human collective in which it was integrated. We found ourselves in the previous phase, enormously dynamic and essential, of the great cultural and political development of the ‘nouncentisme’ of the beginning of the 20th century, a phase that, in its splendorous outburst, the same ‘noucentisme’ hid. For this reason alone, by clarifying this important and significant precedent for modern societies of the period, we can already say that we are faced with relevant contribution to the study of the cultural dynamics of the most restless spaces in the western Mediterranean.
