During the decade of the Thirties the emergence of the ‘Actuació Valencianista d’Esquerra (AVE) in Barcelona signified the political framing of a part of the Valencian population resident in Catalonia. Created between the end of 1931 and the beginning of 1932, AVE was constituted in a left-wing entity, ‘Valencianist’ and with a clear idea of Catalan territories. Under the defence of these political principles, the AVE tried to follow the dominant model of the republican Catalonia, that is, ‘Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya’ (ERC). And it did so by establishing a close political collaboration and calling for the vote of Valencians settled in Catalonia for the party of the Presidents Marcià and Companys, as well as a full support for the Catalan autonomous process. At the same time, from its pan-Catalan vocation, AVE tried to transfer the ERC model to Valencia organising trips to the Valencian regions, where prominent members of ERC went. Thus, during the period of 1932 – 1937 AVE in Barcelona created a bridge of communication very fluent between Catalonia and Valencia hoping that the nationalism and autonomism of the principality would serve as a model to the recovery of the political personality and Valencian culture.
