Simona Škrabec says that she writes to document the ability to cross borders, to ignore learned classifications, to insist on the possibility of a critical cartography that weighs the categories with which she works.
The desire for order seems like a theoretical book but it is not. It delves into issues such as the invisibility of narrow-scope cultures, difference as a source of tension and at the same time of innovation and creativity or the traumas of the past and their projections. It is a poignant inquiry into the social, cultural and existential crossroads of the contemporary world and the need to think critically about it.
Simona Škrabec (Ljubljana, 1968), writer, literary critic and translator, has lived in Barcelona since 1992. She is the author of the essay books Una pàtria prestada (2017) and L'azar de la lluita (Afers, 2005), as well as of L'estirp de la solitud (2003) on Central European narrative. In 2019 he published the collection of short prose I return to the forest with dyed hands. He has translated more than forty books from Slovenian, Serbian and Croatian into Catalan and Spanish, as well as from Catalan into Slovenian.
