Was it the school of common sense the most representative one in Catalan culture of the eight hundred? How did the philosophical studies affect the dictatorships of Primo de Rivera and Franco? What were the editorial and academic conditions which marked the development of philosophy in Catalonia the last decades? How and when did the influence of the existentialists, Marxists or the analytical philosophy penetrated? One the distinctive characteristics of the new historiography of philosophy, which is being consolidated in Catalonia, is that it doesn’t focus exclusively on the study of illustrate and more or less original thinkers (as is usually the case), but rather it also focuses, with the same methodology, on the followers, on the secondary and subaltern authors, on the marginal figures and even on those thinkers who could be considered terrible. The resultant image – says Serra – is free from panegyrics viscosity.
