Entre el malson i l'oblit. L'impacte del franquisme en la cultura a Catalunya i les Balears (1939-1960)

The instauration of the Franco’s regime meant in Catalonia a double lose: the democratic and the native culture. This lose meant a rupture which undid society circles, broke the relations between teachers and disciples, broke the generational traditions, got rid of very influential figures before the 1936 and which condemn with exile the most prominent figures of the Catalan culture. To this dark landscape was added Franco’s regime international isolation, which weakened the European cultural connection. The book focuses on the huge consequences of this rupture happening in a general context of confrontation between democracy and dictatorship, or better yet, between different interpretations of the democratic culture and the different formulations of authority in the Europe of between wars. This study analyses the nightmare of the first years of Franco’s regime from different perspectives: theatre, philosophy, architecture or the reinterpretation of the native culture. The book also analyses the organizational role of the bodies linked to the church or the old members of the League, as well as to what point the republican discourse was condemned to be forgotten. This book is a group approximation of some of the most fundamental years to understand the reformulation of the culture in Catalonia in the 60s.
